It's Broken, Alright!

I got quite a scare yesterday!  My cell phone was not ringing out loud.  I think it has to do with this blue tooth thingy that has even made me call someone I didn't intend to call.  But I noticed I had a voice mail yesterday, so I checked it.  It was a message from my mom.  She only said she needed me to call her that it was important, and my dad was hurt!  My dad delivers mail, so I instantly thought he had been in an accident!  The voice mail was nearly a half hour old, so when I finally spoke with my mom she was able to give me some details.  I got more as the night progressed.  He was changing the tire on his truck.  He had a wrench on the lug nut, and a copper pipe on the end of the wrench.  The nuts were too tight, so he was pushing on the copper pipe!  The maleable copper pipe broke, the wrench flew off the lug nut and his right leg broke in three places!  He called my mom's cell from the ground, who in turned called the house (where he was outside of) for my brother to call the ambulance.  He had no idea my dad was outside and hurt.  They took him to the small, local hospital in Belhaven.  They said it was pretty bad, and sent him to a bigger hospital via ambulance in Washington, NC.  He had to have surgery, which was scheduled for 8 a.m. this morning.  He was in surgery for four hours, which I thought was quite a long time for a broken leg.  Dr. Birdsong said it was worse than he expected.  He had to put in a steel rod.  He will probably be in a cast, and he his not allowed to put any weight whatsoever on that leg for the first eight weeks.  Then he will be evaluated to see where he stands.  He will probably have to have rehab, as well.  That means he will be out of work for the next couple of months....not good at all.  I will be spending the weekend at my parents' home.  Pray for him, please.

So sorry to hear about your dad. Prayers coming your way sweetie. It will be hard on him for a little while to let this leg heal. Men just can't stand to be laid up.
Take care and remember prayer is going up.

Your poor Dad!
Oh second thought...

Your poor MOM!!! Dad's probably not going to be real fun to be around for the next eight weeks.

Seriously, thank God it didn't hit him in the head! I hope he has a speedy and uneventful recovery.

so tragic it had to happen when the holiday season is just around the corner.
Sending healing energy from the east, and a prayer that your dad will recover soon. Do update us from there, ok?

This is a horrible accident. You never expect something this severe to happen at the time. The consequences of this accident were not worth it. Hope he recovers fast.

Thanks everybody. I'm sure my parents (Dad and Mom) will be glad to know they are in your thoughts. Mom is already asking for help taking care of him. Dad's not one to just sit around. He stays pretty busy. So he will probably be a pain in the @$$.

That sounds awful but apparently God has different plans for your dad. He wants him to lay up for the holidays! And we don't know..that might have just saved him from an even bigger wreck. Thank God for each of our blessings.
Y'all be safe,
