2010: The Space Age?

Well, Christmas is over, and the new year is only a day or so away.  We are heading into 2010.  It's funny to see it written down.  I remember as a kid we couldn't wait for it go get here.  We just knew that by 2010 we would be in the space age.  Surely we would get to work via jet packs.  There would be no more paved highways because cars would float in the air and could fly.  And surely we would already have been in contact with beings form at least one other planet and/or solar system.  We just knew that Star Trek or some variation there of would be a reality.

Of course, when I was ten years old Hailey's Comet zipped by us, not to return for about a hundred years.  That was fuel for the fire.  Today people ooh and aah over having telephones  that can travel with us and access the internet.  We have GPS systems that can pretty much tell us how to get anywhere from here.  And we have blogs that we can post any message or picture to instantly and have people all around the world read our musings!  Technology is amazing!  But I still want to fly to work.
