Just Some Cool Things

I love this lamp we mounted on our front porch.  It's an ocean bouy light that my dad caught in the ocean years ago.  I've never weighed it, but I'm sure it weighs anywhere from 80 to 100 lbs.  It got flooded from a past hurricane sitting in my folks garage.  We brought it home, cleaned it up, painted it, put in a new light fixture, and mounted it on the porch!
This is a cool vase I picked up while serving in Iraq.  I actually shipped it home.  I stuffed it with a couple of pillows and wrapped it in blankets.  I didn't know if it would make the trip in one piece, but it did.  But when Mike went to pull out the pillows a few pieces broke off the top.  We super-glued them and it looks just fine, barely noticeable.
The Chair.  I don't know what else to call it.  It's a cushioned rocker.  My parents' got it before I was even born.  So it's been around for a while.  It's an ugly 70's green color, and it's not all that comfortable.  And though it's old, it's probably worth nothing.  But it has sentimental value.  If I'm getting rid of anything I prefer to do it quickly.  The longer I have it, the more it tends to have meaning.  I want to replace it with a rocking recliner, but I have no intention of getting rid of it.  But I have no other place for it.  The recliner is on hold.

I have a suggestion for the old rocker. I don't sit at a computer chair. I have a 32 inch monitor and sit in a lazyboy recliner using a wireless keyboard I put in my lap and using a wireless mouse. Never have any of the stiffness problems you can get from to long on the computer. The one problem I have which I'm sure you can figure out a solution to ( I've tried a few but not found a perfect one yet ) is I tend to leave the mouse on the chairs arm and often knock it to the floor.

As to colour try a night school course in reupholstering. I have never done it. ( I can't tell you what colour the next room is ) but an ex brother in law did. He kept many things he would have other wise thrown out. Bought and redid odd but comfortable chairs at yard sales and was able to redo things for friends at only slightly more then the cost of materials. Strangers paid based on how big a jerk they were. It was a hobby.

In a sense better some of mine my last project was a time delayed burning dog hair powered electronic stink bomb

Thanks for the suggestion Sid. I might give it a go. As for computer desks, my job requires it. I do have a wireless mouse and keyboard (ergonomical, too). As for a wireless mouse in a recliner....hmmm...put it away when you are done? I'd have to chew on that one for a bit.

Sorry. I should probably pointed out I have a dedicated Den for the computer so the chair is a permanent fixture. If the rocker could be in the same room when not on the computer it would work even if it isn't a dedicated computer chair.

Being retired and single I can try anything without getting " Boy are men Dumbed at "

The downside is exactly what you think it would be loneliness. However I would rather be lonely than with the wrong person. My definition of heaven is forever with the right person. My definition of hell is forever with the wrong one.

The chair is gorgeous...love it! and everything else too!!

Just call Steven...Jim...everyone else does...my dad nicknamed him that as he couldnt remember his name when we first got together and it has stuck :)

Right...a boat ride to your place...I am looking on google now ;) lol!! It would be far easier for you and Mike to come here :)

Cool lantern! And can I relate to the chair and the sentimentality despite not really liking the looks of it. I could become one of those pack rat people they do cable shows about if I let myself . . . I wrap memories into every little thing around me. So I have no advice . . . but I understand (said in calming, soothing, and subtly condescending tones). ;)

why don't you re-upholster the chair, then it will be more comfortable?

that chair has sentimental value hence it's worth more than those fancy new ones. just re-upholster it to give it a new look and comfort. i wouldn't throw it away too,,,

just buy a pretty chair pillow for the rocker, don't know 'bout you but I ain't gonna get in to reupholstering anything, I'm too lazy for all that.

You coming to the Morganton Poultry Show on Feb 13th? Matt, Pat, and I plan to be there, don't think any of us will be showing, just hanging around.

Hi Chicken Boys!
Thank you for visiting me, I think my hens are not laying any egg due to the very cold weather we're having.. by the way your lamp looks gorgeus!
Greetings from Italy :)
