You Are Here
I don't even know where to begin! I guess I start by saying we don't have chickens anymore. Well, that's not entirely true. We have three. We still have Bucky and China. They're starting to show their age now, though. We've also got Honey Boo Boo Chick. She was supposed to belong to a friend that was a neighbor. But she moved and Honey Boo Boo stayed. That doesn't mean we're gonna stay chickenless. We just needed a chicken break for a bit.
So, now I gotta say that we're moving! My great aunt passed away a few years ago. My mom and dad had been taking care of her, and got her house when she passed away. My brother and his family were living there for a while. Then Hurricane Irene happened. There was a lot of damage to The house, as it got flooded. So now we're gonna move out there and fix the house back up. Yeah, it's gonna be a lot of work, but it will be so worth it in the end! Three bedroom, two bath, two car garage, brick home...3/4 acre. Yeah, that's what we're looking for. Plus, we'll be just around the corner from my parents. We enjoy spending time with them, but we'll be nearby if they ever need any help.
We've got four dogs now, too. We've still got Max and Minnie. Now we've got Ladybird (Birdy) and Daisy May. Birdy is a Boxer mix that belonged to another neighbor friend that moved to an apartment where they couldn't have a dog. So, being the animal lovers we are....voila. And Daisy is a Dachsund Beagle mix. She was a puppy of another friend's dog. I picked her up and BAM! She was mine.
I'm still working for Airgas driving the CO2 truck. I actually love it! At one point I hated it. My route was too big and spread out that I couldn't keep it up. I was getting calls all day and night, and I was so stressed out! But the finally hired another driver, changed my route, and made things easier on me. I can breathe easier now, and I'm back to a regular schedule. Of course, since we're moving, my route will change again. We're moving an hour and change away, and my supervisor wants to redo my route based of where I'll be living.
I don't have any pics on here to share yet, but I'll see what I can come up with for later. It's really good to be back! I look forward to seeing you guys around!

They're Here!!
We have all been waiting.
I had a hybrid bantam hen. She is all white, but I have both parents. They are both black with a tan or cream colored collar. She was by herself, so I put a white silkie rooster in with her. Well, they got busy, and she started sitting after laying about 15 or 16 eggs. It seemed like forever ago when she started sitting. We'll be away for the weekend, so I figured if they had not hatched by Friday, I was gonna throw out the eggs. Yesterday afternoon I saw a little white head poking out from under her, but I could still see eggs. She was still sitting, too. Then I check in on her this morning before leaving for work. I saw a black chick, but it wasn't moving. I think it might be dead. I told Mike just in case, so he can get it out if it is. But since she was still sitting I let her sit. I wll check back in this afternoon. I can't wait for her to get up. I'm curious as to how these chicks will turn out! I will post later when they are out and about with some pics!

Who Didn't Pay The Bill?
So Mike was gone last night. I spent the night alone, a rarity for me. It wasn't too bad. I stopped by Food Lion and bought a one skillet chicken meal and cooked for myself. I also bought some frozen things for lunch for the rest of the week instead of buying my lunch every day, plus a half gallon of caramel praline crunch ice cream because it was buy one get one free. I took down the tree and put it in the spare room. It's kinda lonely by myself. And boring. There was nothing on tv, so I spent the night surfing channels. I thought I was going to stretch out in bed, but that quickly got nipped in the bud. When I went to the bedroom I found Max already plopped right in the middle of the bed. Minnie was hot on my heels. And Elvis almost always sleeps with me....on my chest if he can help it. That's three. I had a bowl of ice cream in bed with me while I watched a little more tv before nodding off. Of course the dairy product attracted three more. Priscilla climbed up on the foot of the bed. Then Black Kitty and Stripey Cat raced, literally raced, up to ask for some ice cream. I was rude. I didn't share. But no one had any intention of getting out of bed, even as I got up to put my bowl in the sink. So I spent the night sleeping in a bed with two dogs and four cats. How romantic, eh?
My morning was entirely too cold! It was 21 degrees out! (For all you non-Americans that's -6!) I had to wonder who didn't pay the electir or gas bill that it has gotten so cold and is not refusing to warm up. I went to feed and water the birds before leaving for work to find all their water frozen. The water hose was frozen, too. So I had to carry about nine watering can fulls of hot water from the house to pour over the ice. It took me a while to do that, and I was a little late for work. It was all good, though. I talk about my chickens at work all the time.
Mike called and said my mom came to him in the middle of the night with cough syrup because he was coughing all night. LOL The sick caring for the sick! Don't know when he'll be home. I guess their house is turning into a leper colony! : D I'll call Mike later to find out when he'll be home.
