Not the best weekend. One of the computer systems was down at Fort Bragg, so there was no time for scenarios. So I only got to qualifiy with my M-16. I got 33 out of 40, so not too bad. I would've been happier with 36+. But a coupleI hit all of the 300 meter targets, though. It was all computerized (not like the real range we went to in November). It was still kinda cool, but I was so exhausted Saturday night, as I haven't been sleeping well lately. Sunday I took the PT (Physical Training) test....and failed miserably. Well, I failed the run by a little over 2 minutes. If I don't take it and pass by February 25th then I will be demoted, and my school appointment in New Jersey for March 4th will be cancelled. Bah! But once I do pass it, because I have so much time in service and time in grade, I will be re-promoted immediately. Go figure. I'll give it a shot. I just hate running alone. I enjoy running, but give me a running partner.
Work has gotten a little too busy. Things got pretty busy for a good spell there, and I have tons of paperwork to catch up on. I'm getting there. But our copier went kaput. Boss says he's requisitioned a new one, but for several thousand dollars it takes approval that corp. thinks we have time for. I did get a table top fax, scanner, copier, printer today. It's pretty nice, too. But I have about 1,500 pages that are awaiting copying, and I don't think a table top can handle that load. I may have to give it a go, though.
It's cold and rainy out AGAIN! I'm so sick of the rain! I pass by the airport sometimes, depending on the route I take, to and from work. Often there are several deer out grazing in the marshy area near the end of the tarmac. But the river is so engorged that it has overflowed it's banks and that entire area is completely under water. More rain is only making it worse. I have a couple of small lakes in my back yard. It's getting depressing. And the weatherman says the cold is here to stay for a little while. No snow. Just cold, wind, and rain. I might go stir crazy over it!

I get the same feeling when we are stuck in rainy season...here that is usually months. It is depressing. I wouldn't mind having a little of that snow everyone else is getting...just a little. Careful what you wish for! Take care Randy...jj
If I lived closer we could run together. My hubby hates running so alas I run alone unless I take my big ol' dog. Good luck! Oh and I would love to send you that little chicken book. Here is my email. Send me your address and I will pop it in the mail. :0)

Run Forest Run!
Thanks for your kind wishes for Ames. She hates me posting about her and making a fuss, but she's so damn brave. You're a good friend, wish you lived nearer so you could come over and cheer her up! xxxxxxxx
Wouldn't you have to find someone who runs faster than you, so you can improve? What about Craigs List????
I use ipod with loads of dance music or download podcasts on it, it helps me get into my training. Also spin classes are building my stamina up. I have to be honest though i do like snow and rain its what keeps me busy with work as we supply humidity control equipment.
i am not one to complain about the rainy days here and there. maybe it's because we are in constant sun and rain offers a relaxing change of mood. but if its intensity in strength is equaled by its duration, then i also get depressed (it makes sense why they call this weather system tropical depression, lol!).
xoxoxox
You're sick of rain, I'm tired of snow...We all really need a change of weather don't we??!! I know spring can't get here soon enough for me!!!!
Sorry about your PT test...My husband during his military career failed the running part more than once, but always passed it the 2nd time--He hated the push-ups most of all! Good times....
I find the army stories interesing but wont ask you about attitudes etc of the army on this forum.....
but I do find your "balancing act" interesting
At least it isn't snowing!
Next time you go by the airport, look for a little square brick building behind it (off of 33) with a razor wire fence behind it. It's the Pitt Co. Juvenile Detention Center. I worked there while in college! Wave to the bad children when you drive by!

Just think about the hot summer days when we will be wishing for cool rainy days to return. I just don't want any flooding or mudslides.
sorry you cant open the video on my blog. Randy they are not THAT interesting believe me....
you may just update your video settings !!!!
isn't fort brag absolutely huge?
Fort Bragg is pretty big, but I was stationed at Fort Hood in Texas when I was active. That place is huge!! That's where that army phychiatrist shot and killed all those people a few months back. You can drive for 45 minutes at Ft. Hood and still be on the base!
that's scary Randy....
I lived in York for a few years which was a garrison town, but we hardly ever saw a squaddie!
I've been out of the blogging loop for a few days but now I'm getting caught up.
Talking about the MakeupMan - He didn't even bother with the sales pitch on me, 1) I don't wear makeup, 2) he could tell I was waaay to cheap for anything he was selling. My face get s little cheap lotion thrown on it every now and then, and that's it. Beisdes, I like being low maintenance.
Does it help for ya to listen to some music when you're running or you need a partner to keep pushing you? How far and fast are you supposed to run?
It sounds like my thoughts on a pet (i.e., dog) and music of some ilk while running. Either that, or get someone to have a big dog chase you... That would make you move faster. Yellow jackets are also effective. (Ask me how I know...) Anyway, you will make it. Just take care of yourself.

Ugh... I'm so out of shape, I don't know if I can even spell PT let alone pass one. I admire you for being so calm about it, Randy... I would be freaking out.
I'm sick of this gloomy weather too... I'm going to have to start taking anti-depressants if the sun doesn't start shining soon.
By the way- I LOVE LOVE LOVE the new header! (It's probably not new, but I'm waaaay behind on my bloggie friends these days...*sigh*...)
Thanks for your comment - think of the roses think of the roses !!!
you got an award Randy! come and get it.
xoxoxo
I know what you mean about depressing. So I give you my sunshine award. Please come see. (Feel no obligation to put the button on your blog, though, unless you want to. I just wanted to let you know I think you're fabulous. ;)
